Stonehenge
A symbol of mystery, power and endurance it’s England greatest national icon, the very well known monument from Stonehenge. It is located in Salisbury Plain, in Southern England, composed mainly from thirty upright stones, each of them weighting about 26 tons and has ten feet in height. It is the oldest example of architecture, it is an incredible structure thought to be engineered by Merlin, and notable about it is the fact that it was constructed without the use of any draft animals and shaped by stone tools.
This is amazing considering the fact that the Stonehenge dates from about 2800 B.C., almost 3000 years ago. The monument is a circular setting of large standing stones surrounded by an earthwork. Some people believe that the monument would have been used as an astronomic calendar for clocking and predicting the seasons.
It’s not to be neglected the fact that Stonehenge was built by a culture with no written language and it’s whole structure is muffled in mystery and a large range of theories have been issued in order to explain more of this intricate monument.
This is probably why these theories are included in the articulation, “mystery of Stonehenge”. One of the theories about the purpose of this cromlech it is that it served as a burial ground from its earliest beginnings. The construction techniques are ambiguous in the sense that there is little or no direct evidence for these construction techniques used by the Stonehenge builders.
Some people suggested that Stonehenge was a place of healing and others give symbolic and supernatural explanation for the construction.
However, this monument from Salisbury Plain, it is worth to be seen since is glided with the flavor of ancient times, legends and tales are connected to this construction , a whole living ancient proof of people intelligence even before achieving language can be relished here.
